Happy Camper

I LOVE CAMPING.
And last weekend, I got to go camping at Bryce Canyon with Rob, Diane, and Christie. Let me tell you, we make a pretty good group. The fun we have together reflects a very special kind of family love haha. Poor Rob has to put up with us girls going crazy together. He's a great sport :) And even despite the sporadic pouring rain, we had a blast.

Rob and I ran the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon on Saturday morning, so we all rose when it was still dark and early. While the Perry sibs ran, the McAllister (okay so its really McAllister/Perry now, but whatever) sibs braved the rain storm as volunteers handing out medals at the finish line.

After the race we spent the rest of the day having even more fun. We kicked it off with a wondrously long midday slumber in our cozy tent. Then we set out to eat at the local restaurant claiming fame for its soup and pie. Believe it or not folks, there was no soup on the menu, and the pie definitely wasn't worth it. Hot tubbing was next on the agenda, which is totes normal for a camping trip, right? And then it was off to the national park to soak up some beautiful views of the canyon and scope out our hike for the next day.

Sunday morning we slept in a bit, broke camp surprisingly quickly, and then set off for our hike through the canyon. The blessing of the sunshine outweighed the curse of sore legs (okay fine, sore everything), and we had an awesome time trekking the few miles through the trails and seeing all the awesome structures in the canyon. Seriously, it was so cool.

Sadly, this fun filled weekend had to come to an end, and before long we were back on the road to Provo. Even though we had to leave Bryce Canyon behind, we took home plenty of great new memories with us. We'll remember the ridiculous quotable moments (I really need to learn to think before I speak), the endless "thats what she said"s, the license plate hunting, the giggling at bedtime, our new chipmunk friend, the feeling of being a minority because 95% of the people around us spoke a European language, the "airport," the town with a population of less than 500, our huge, endless, delicious supply of grub, our friends the Frenchies, and the great fun we had spending the weekend together as a family!

Here's a bit of what my iphone captured during the weekend. Its a meager collection compared to the hundreds of pics we took on Rob and Diane's much nicer camera, which will hopefully be shared on this here blog real soon :)

Peace.

This was the first time i've run a race with the big bro... too bad I was almost 30 minutes behind him!

We have fun :)

Seriously, the medal is a huge motivation... this was half marathon #5 for me!

The little sisters

This hilarious chipmunk practically performed for us.

SO GORGEOUS, SO COOL.

If you've never been there, put it on your bucket list to go some day!

  1. I think Bryce was my favorite of what we saw on the trip with your mom and dad. It's so beautiful.
