80 inches

I am learning that life is a little different when you're 6'8"...

Brent and I cannot help but compare the drastic differences in our hands, wrists, forearms, heights, etc. But this has to be one of the most amusing comparisons we've discovered:
He wears a mens 15, I wear a womens 9.5, still pretty large for a girl. But woah, this was crazy. We figured out that I can fit my foot inside of his shoe, with my own shoes still on. And it wasn't even a tight squeeze, I still had plenty of wiggle toe space. So, for a few minutes at least, I got to walk in the shoes of a 6'8" person:

And lets be honest, much of this world just isn't built for people with this height. Its not fair really. Maybe I should invent a drinking fountain that has an adjustable height... Makes for a good picture though! :)

Happy monday everyone, whatever height you may be :)

Monday Monday

Don't worry friends! I haven't forgotten my regular happy monday/weekend update post! I mean, how could both of you readers survive without it, right?! Just kidding. Most of this blogging business I just do to satisfy myself, and those of you who read it, i'm glad and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

My weekend was great. We're talking top notch. I did a little of just about everything and still had time to relax. How can you beat that? Wanna know what I did? Okay ready go:

Friday after class I spent the day getting some good studying in for my first real nursing test of the semester. Thank goodness for thorough study guides and extremely structured professors. It makes life SO much easier. After a few more hours of studying on saturday morning, I strolled into the testing center, aced that test, and strolled out with a big smile on my face and relief in my heart. Wooo!

Around 5 on friday Robby and Brent got home from work and the three of us grabbed some grub at Wendy's and then hit the slopes! I have never been a fantastic snowboarder and I only got to go once last year and this was my first time up this year, but we had a blast up at Sundance. Both the boys are better and much faster than me, but I held my own, only fell once, and had fun. Its funny how you forget how much you love something until you do it again for the first time in a long time. I have to tell you how entertaining some guys are when they get together and start talking. I don't think I have ever heard so many "dudes" in such a short amount of time before. But i'm sincerely glad those two seem to get along so well :) We left Sundance early enough to make it back for Brent's basketball game at 10pm (who does that?!) and then spent the rest of the night just relaxing.

Have any of ya'll Provo peeps been to Kneaders? If not, change that ASAP, because its breakfast heaven on earth. Thats how we spend saturday morning, bright and early, with Brent's brother David and his wife Kirstin. It was Brent's first time there, which is tragic considering how much time he has spent in Provo. Their $5 bottomless french toast is glorious delectable goodness, and Brent impressed us all by putting down 5 pieces of it :) We're talking HUGE pieces here people, not some wimpy little piece of bread. Believe me, you would have been impressed too.

Still training for half marathon #3. Did a 9-miler on saturday afternoon after my test. It was a tough one considering my lack of sleep and slightly tired legs from boarding the night before. But I toughed it out and made it back to the apartment RIGHT as my Garmin ticked to the 9 mile mark. What a tender mercy that was haha. It really wiped me out for the rest of the day though, I was pretty worthless after working that hard. Props to big sister Kirstin for her 24-miler on saturday!!

Saturday night was spend with Brent, a trip to Smith's, and spinach smoothies. Don't tell me its gross if you've never had one. Because its incredibly delicious, and if you don't believe me get your booty to my apartment right now so I can prove you wrong. I then lazed on the couch and did nothing except watch TV/movies for a few hours while Brent worked on homework/got distracted by the TV haha.

Sunday sunday sunday. Meeting, church, another meeting, food, nap. All good stuff. For the first time in over a month I got all my homework done on saturday so I didn't have any to do on sunday which was such a blessing and it really let me enjoy the day without stressing about anything. I need to get back on track doing that every week.

Sunday afternoon was spent at Brent's sister's house for a valentines party. It was awesome. His family is full of energy and laughter and teasing and happiness and tickling and crazy cute kids and just all around fun. We ate good food and had a good time. The kids all exchanged valentines and several of them even had notes and candy for me. It was so cute and super sweet :)

Did I mention it was like 60 degrees and sunny on saturday and then snowy all day sunday? Dang crazy bipolar weather. Good thing i've been feeling extremely unpicky and flexible with the weather lately! Whatever it is, bring it on and i'll enjoy it! See, proof:

One last thing. Saw this on a streetlight pole on my run this morning and just had to laugh. Some people take the time to do the weirdest things, but its great because it provides for great entertainment (and blog topics) for other people!

Happy monday friends!

Quite the Spectacle

Speaking of spectacles... check us out. You might be thinking to yourself, "oh haha those silly girls and their dumb dollar store purchases." Well thats where I tell you you're wrong! These glasses are no fake business. They're quite real. They are nice sturdy glasses with our prescribed prescription in them. They actually help us see. This is no joke. Okay well that part is a lie, it sort of is. Lindsey and I sat down a couple weeks ago and started browsing through my favorite online glasses site, each of us considering purchasing a new pair of spiffy glasses for ourselves. This experience quickly transformed into a challenge and a dare. We each went through and tried to pick out the most ridiculous pair of glasses we could find for each other. And then... we ordered them. She got me all set up with these beauties that are nice and round as a full moon, an oreo, a silver dollar, a ritz cracker, whichever round item you prefer to compare them to. Or, if you're a certain kind of cool, you can just call me a Harry Potter-ess. I got her hooked up with the slick super sleek lime green giant frames.

Now you might be asking yourself how in tarnation we were able to make such a purchase? Well, let me tell you. Its this super special spectacle website that my buddy Rory hooked me up with last year. I was a little bit spectacle skeptical at first, but I gave it a try and they are GREAT! And the best part is, they were $6.95 each. A grand total of $11 for each pair. Impressed and want to know more, ask me and i'll hook you up with the deets :)

We rock them, and we all know it.

Okay, the title of this post is SUCH a dad pun. I've gotta watch myself on those. But come on, its funny right?

"Hi, i'm Diane!"

The title of today's post is meant to be read in a very specific voice. If you've never heard it before, you're missing out because it means you don't hang out with some of the coolest people ever. Fortunately, I do. Fortunately, they live right up the stairs from me. Literally. If we both poke our heads out the front door, we can see each other. Lets be honest, its pretty cool having the hook-up with the apartment managers :) But anyway, back the important matter of the day:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANE!!!!

You're pretty cool I guess... aka I am SO FREAKING HAPPY you are part of our family now. Rob was okay before (hehe), but now ya'll are a package deal and its like bam fun times. I remember the first time you came to visit us in Washington when you guys were still just dating, and I just knew you were a perfect fit for him and for our family. And I was right! I love you for giving me advice still when you barely knew me, I love you for asking me for pictures for Robby's birthday when you barely knew me, I love you for making me a bridesmaid, for inviting me to come wedding dress shopping with you, for sunday dinners, for early morning Kneaders trips, for showing up to my race in a dinosaur costume, for taking me to my first dance in Provo, for keeping my secrets, for good times and good laughs and I love you for being an awesome sister-in-law. I hope your birthday is fantastic (and that includes the delicious dinner we're going to enjoy at the pizza factory in 3 hours...)!!!

P.S. - Note to Carli: No worries, you are NOT the runner up sister-in-law and I did not purposely exclude you from birthday blog posts! I'm gonna get the whole fam in this year, so your turn will be coming around! :)

Weekend Update/Happy Monday

Time for the weekend update of course.

As expected, it was a super busy weekend. But thankfully it was also a good one. It included things like getting a kid's meal at the creamery, looking at crazy pictures from last year, watching Brent and his team dominate in their intramural basketball game, running 8 miles, doing lots of homework, making and eating delicious sushi (though i'm thinking wasabi is so not my kind of thing...), laying on a couch doing nothing but enjoying being comfortable, helping a dear friend get engaged to the man she wants to spend eternity with, going to church, witnessing Lindsey teach for the first time ever and doing amazing, writing in my journal, watching Charly (gosh dang it gets the waterworks going every time!), watching Grey's Anatomy, going to meetings, getting to hear some awesome awesome things, spending time with people I care about, and late night girl talk with Linds even though I know I should go to bed because i've got 8 am classes. You know, just the normal good stuff.

One of the best parts of the weekend: reconnecting with the roomie from last year. Man Heather is so dang great. Seriously, what are the chances that when you just get thrown into a room with a random stranger for 8 months, they turn out to be one of the coolest people ever that you just love living with? I got so lucky. Within 20 minutes Lindsey and I were already back to automatically using phrases like "prime" and "quality" and using other Heatherisms that we picked up last year that haven't been busted out in a while. The three of us just talked and talked and talked and got all caught up on life. We missed that girl while she was off on her adventures in China! It was happy and refreshing and so very uplifting to be together again. How grateful I am for good times and good friends!! We may or may not have been known to do some strange things together sometimes...

Reunited!

Don't judge us on our freshman past...

Anyway, happy monday folks. Hope ya'll have a great week full of productivity and fun and relaxation and goodness. Just remember, BE HAPPY, and all will be well :)

Grandma Summerhays

Dear Grandma,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I've tried calling you several times today but haven't been able to get ahold of you. But, I know you read my blog, so I just thought i'd dedicate today to you since its your special day!

Thank you for being a wonderful grandmother. I am so grateful for all of the memories I have with you through the years: getting to spend the night at your house in Bellevue, fun trips to McDonalds (and we always brought home extra fries for Peaches!), camping at Leisure Time and the property, trips in the motorhome, watching General Conference at your house, Christmas day celebrations, birthdays, and so much more. You have been there for me during the important moments in my life like being baptized, graduating from high school, and even when I just grow another year older :) You have done much that has brought great joy into my life, and I am so blessed to call you my grandma.

I hope you have had a great day and you enjoy going out to dinner with mom and dad tonight! I love you SO much!

Love,
Jannette
