Deception Pass. Four beaches. Two hikes. Ferry ride. Ivar's dinner. Ice cream dessert.
All in a day's work.
Throw in long car rides, skipping rocks, handfuls of swedish fish and jelly beans, driftwood forts, hyper little girls and baby's first ice cream... and you've got the summary of a dang good day.
One day when Kirstin and Ty were still here we decided to tackle Deception Pass and Whidbey Island. Such beautiful places with so much to do, and we were determined to do it all! Which led to our beach hopping and hiking. It was fantastic. Extremely draining, but perfect.
It was one of those days where everyone climbs into the car to drive home way past bedtime, they're filthy, dead tired, falling asleep all over each other, and happy to be alive because they've just had an incredibly happy and summery day with great family and friends. Do you know what I mean? Its a very nostalgic thing for me, that end-of-a-great-summer-day feeling.
Deception pass. This is the bridge we walked out onto to take in our... er... "view."
It was creeeeepy to look down into thick white fog instead of down into the gorgeous blue water.
We hiked down to the beach underneath the bridge, and the girls set to work on their rock collecting. Very serious business, don't ya know.
FAMILY LOVE! :)
We love our nieces :)
Even when we have to see things like this:
I especially love this picture of Kev. I didn't even mean to press the capture button on this one, but I love how real his smile and happiness is here!
Mom and dad with all but one of their grandkids! Missin' you Amelia!
BEACH FUN
We set off to hike on a cliff along one of the beaches. Getting up into and through the fog was pretty cool.
This picture is a priceless treasure. Too good.
So, Kirstin might be a teensy bit afraid of heights. And we were quite close to the edge of a pretty steep drop off that went a looong way down to the beach. Big sister couldn't quite handle the dizzying effect, so she gifted us with this hilarious experience.
We hopped on the ferry to shortcut back home, and ended the day in the absolute perfect way: takeout Ivars dinner to eat on the beach while the sun set. Ahhhh. Seriously, can't be beat!
For dessert we gave baby Anya her first taste of ice cream... I think she likes it! :)
... I think they do too.
I LOVE WASHINGTON.
